A palindrome is a word that is the same think backwards as it is forwards. For example, the Pokemon "Girafarig" is a palindrome, because, when you mirror the word, it's that same.

If you wanna be really simple, "dad" is a palindrome, or even "dog god", because it spells the same thing backwards. Got it?
